whats different from one tank to dual tanks?
its a 93 ford f 150, 4x4 short bed extended cab with dual tanks, ive never had dual tanks, so whats the difference? like is there anything extra that has to be done while driving or anything, and do i have to put gas in both tanks? i dont know if they are low pressure pumps or not, im gona test drive it tomorrow, i was just looking for some tips that could help out, cause i dont know if they run differently or not, it is a gasoline not a diesel and its automatic sadly, but i was just needing to know if there is stuff that i need to look out for or listen for if there is something wrong with it, im good with trucks with one tank but not two, and im not sure if that makes much of a difference. thanks for your help
There are 2 tanks so that you can carry more fuel between fill-ups.
Both filler doors are on the driver's side of the truck. If I remember correctly, the front is a 19gal and the rear is 18gal, or near that for capacity.
You can drive off of one tank for ever and pretend that the other one doesn't exist if you want. I would fill both tanks during fillup, then run one tank down, then switch to the second and run it down, then refill both.
One thing you could try to do is run off of each tank an equal amount;
Start on front tank first, when near empty switch to rear tank. After you refuel, continue to run on rear tank till near empty, then switch to front tank, refill, after refuel run front tank first........
Just swap back and forth.
The selector switch is located on the dash, easy reach from the driver's seat. When you flip the switch, the fuel gauge will so the level of the tank that is selected. If you want to see the level of the other tank, flip the selector switch.
