I dont think the fan on my laptop is running?
My fan was running really hard the other day, then my laptop overheated and crashed. I turned it on and it gave me the blue screen of death. Not a good sign. I have an HP g60 121wm. I cant get access to the fan like I could with my dell. So I took the covers off where the ram and the HD are and saw it was really dirty. I blew most of it out with compressed air. But being that I couldnt totally get to the fan, Im worried I might have just trapped more dust in there. I cant hear any fan noise at all now and over time the computer will get really hot and shut down. But I dont get a BSOD. So I think the fan isnt running at all now, and I should take it in. What do you think?

Laptops should really be disassembled at least once a year to remove the dust bunnies from the fan and heatsink fins, and maybe twice a year if used in an area with a lot of dust or pet hair. Best preventive maintenance you can do to keep a laptop alive. Also never use a laptop on soft surfaces such as beds, pillows, and laps. The term "laptop" is a misnomer, hence one of the reasons for manufacturers moving to the term "notebooks".
So you can either take apart the laptop yourself to clean it out and (if need be) replace the fan, or take it to someone for repair/cleaning.
