Autos That Won’t Harm the Environment

September 5, 2011 Posted by Jimmy

The more we depend on fossil fuels, the more we will find our environment destroyed by its effects. If we look at automobiles, that is somewhere we can begin to make modifications. Cars add to the emissions released which can damage the environment, so it's no surprise that auto producers have started producing eco friendly vehicles.

There are many different types of these environmentally friendly vehicles, the friendliest being a car that is only powered by battery. A battery powered car has no need for any gasoline or diesel at all since it's entirely powered by electricity coming from the battery. Even though this seems good from the point of view fuel savings and the effect on the environment, there are downsides. These autos are still in the early phase even though they have been released to consumers, so their engines are quite limited. The battery charge lasts roughly 100 miles, so you won't go too far without recharging.

The hybrid car is another type of vehicle people can buy. Hybrids are environmentally friendly and they run on both batteries and petrol. You may be thinking, 'How is that done?' Well, let me share it with you. As the hybrid car starts to run, it utilizes electricity from the battery. When the hybrid is running at a particular speed, it starts using gas, giving the car a lot of power for the highway. The great thing about it using fuel is that the battery is charged up automatically, which means you don't have to recharge it manually with an external source of power.

There is also another kind of automobiles, known as plug-in hybrid vehicles. They work much in the same way as the previous hybrid car and are environmentally friendly. There is one difference and that is that plug-in hybrid vehicles should be hooked up to an outside source of power to recharge the battery, whereas the typical hybrid can automatically recharge the battery by itself. When put side by side with standard cars, you will see that hybrid cars are good for fuel efficiency.

Toyota has created a hybrid car, named the Prius, that does around 50 miles a gallon, which is really nice. It has a tag price of more or less $22,000 and is now one of the market leaders. The Insight by Honda was the first hybrid car to be made available and before Toyota made an entry in the hybrid market. The Insight made customers aware of the hybrid car even if it wasn't received in the same way as the Prius.  The Ford Fusion Hybrid, which sells for around $27,000, has various awards to its name. It is regarded by many as the top hybrid vehicle in America. Mitsubishi's i-MiEV is said to boast of an emission level of zero. It was among the early electric autos to be produced by a Japanese car company.

As technology becomes more advanced and the market expands we will see more options for buyers in the hybrid and eco friendly car world. People usually find their way to the internet to find some information on everything such as quick healthy recipes, free online recipes and even how to improve nutrition for kids.
