Have a 71 Impala (4door), 350 2barrel (350 turbo tranny). Replaced the valve cover gasket many times now and last night have discovered a oil leak on driver side (rear 2 spark plug area) that seems to come from where the block and the heads come together(at that angle). A little new to this repair thingie so I was looking for guidance on whether it is the head gasket that may have been blown or something differentso that I could get the funds to replace the issue if need be). Also when I drove the car I could smell the oil burning on the driver side. The main thing is that I am not losing coolant nor have any wierd colored exhaust come out yet. Any serious suggestions besides getting a new crate engine (*and no I am not gonna ditch the GM for a Ford, Dodge, etc...) thanks
