If you can hit a G4 in chest voice, what vocal type would you be?
In my "chestish" register I can hit a G2 to a G4, with not much strain, but I can't go any lower or higher with my chest voice. (The G4 or more like a mixed voice). Then once I flip into my falsetto I can't go much higher. I think that's just cause I'm 14 and my voice is changing. I would consider myself a baritone, but I just want to know
Well, judging from your range, i'd have to agree with you, you MIGHT be a baritone. To classify a voice type u need to consider other facts, try them:
*Tessitura: The place where your voice sounds the best(not sounds strained much):
-Tenors: G3-G3
-Baritones: E3-E4
-Bass: B2-B3
*Comfort range, or the place where you'd rather sing for a longer time:
-Tenor: Their head voice(also the strongest), they have a weak middle voice.
-Baritone: The middle voice(also the strongest), they have a weak head voice
-Bass: The low(chest) voice(also the strongest), their middle voice is medium
For example a tenor and a baritone can both sing E4, its within their tessitura. But the tenor has more agility in it than the baritone, and can sing it more frequent than the baritone, whereas the E4 is in the bass range, they can't sing it more than once in a song.(it would exhaust them, just like singing in their middle part of the voice-though not so much-)
Also, a tenor may sing notes above their tessitura wiht great power and clarity-though not much comfort- because their head voice is strong.
