Cloth diapering/BumGenius overnight question?
I got some Bum4.0 diapers/AIOs that are gently used but in great condition. I used both inserts for an overnight option and no leaks after 11 hours. However, they smell god-awful. Funk and ammonia combined. Looking online I see that's a problem quite a bit. I will try doing the whole bleach, Dawn, sun routine to get the stink out but I'm hearing that using prefolds as a stuffer works just as well and isn't as stinky.
So here's my question. For those of you that stuff your AIOs with a prefold, how many "layers" do you use to equal the absorbency of two BG inserts for a heavy wetter overnight? Will a trifold work?
I have a few JoeyKicks Hemp inserts that absorb a ton but I only have 2 nights worth of those so I'm looking for a prefold option as a stuffer. I'd rather not do a trial and error with leaks.
Microfiber, in my opinion, will ALWAYS give you stink issues! You can stuf your pockets or hybrid pocket/AIO with cotton prefolds or hemp prefolds/inserts.
I am a hardcore natural fiber cloth diapering mama.....expect for using the PUL as covers or for AIO construction.
You can purchase more hemp stuffers or wash every 2 days, which is advisable anyways.
With hemp, I have found that 12 layers does the trick perfectly for overnights.......my company manufactures nighttime hemp fitteds with 12 adjustable layers.
